The Ulster Aviation Society at the former RAF airfield at Long Kesh near Lisburn is home to a vast array of aircraft and vehiles including a replica Spitfire.
The Ulster Aviation society wartime heritage collection includes over 40 aircraft, ranging from vintage World War Two fighters to Cold War era fast jets, Shorts designed and built aircraft, light transport, civilian aircraft, home builds plus military helicopters, support vehicles, engines, artefacts and rare aviation reference materials, all with strong links to aviation within the islands of Ireland.
The Polish Wings Exhibition on history of the Polish Air Force in the Second World War is also located at the site, including the Rolls-Royce Merlin engine of Sergeant Pretkiewicz’s wrecked aircraft that was recovered from the wreck site more than 40 years ago by the Society.
